Description
This is a covered yarn maket for the sale of local broadcloth and homespuns. It was built in 1609. You also see Dunster Castle on the hill in the backgroud which is still lived in today and is open to the public.
Dunster is a very old village and was built around the cloth trade which made some of the landowners very wealthy.
This was taken on Tuesday this week which was a cold overcast day, hence no-one about.

Let's see, what were we doing in North America in 1609? Hmmmm, Henry Hudson made his third voyage of discovery and found what is today known as the Hudson River and establishing grounds for the Dutch to form their New World colony on Manhattan Island (New York). So...the ancient market above now fits into my personal timeline:) Most interesting!

Spoiled only by the BIG road sign's and parked car's. Really do like this image apart from the modern touch...

May I say this is what I think of when I think of Britain in the winter. You have well-captured the cold dampness. This townscape seems just made for this type of imagery.
