Description

If you travel to the 'Northlands', high into the hills you may get lucky. You may catch a glimpse of that most elusive creature the Wild Haggis..once these shy but very dangerous creatures roamed in herds numbering in thousands. Then tartan clad men with preposterously bushy red beards realised they where 'good eating'.The rivers ran red with blood, though not always from the Haggis, on many occassions the men came off second best as the Haggis learned to attack from ambush.Saddly man proved to cunning and the Haggis population was decimated. Now there are only two locations were Haggis may be found. One is by secluded waterfalls, high in the 'Northlands'.The other is in the chiller cabinet of most large Supermarket chains....but beware in the Supermarket, Haggis are very adept at playing possum.. This is a re-post from a couple of years ago, I didn't have a proper stitching program then so it was a bit rough.Taken near The Bucchan Lodge, Glentrool, Scotland where we were staying.I staked out the falls but...no Haggis. We hope to go back later this year, maybe I'll get lucky...and maybe Karen will not fall in the river :-) I was really 'lucky' this weekend and managed to pull two back to back 14hr shifts, so no progress on my Winter render...hope you find this an acceptable space filler till I get it done....

Nice to hear the old Haggis story again. Very nice set of photos and good work stitching them together. Do take care - you do need some sleep and rest, just like the rest of us! Sure, we can wait 'til you have some time for the Plant! Have a good trip! :-)

Impressive! The photograph is splendid, and I'm glad you got a stiching program that works for you. Excellent job on this! I don't remember seeing it before ... must have missed it somehow in all the airplanes. :P I'm glad you reposted. It's gorgeous!

oooh. Now that's the place to be. I have been working on my landscaping here at home, and my falls are half finished. but I doubt it will look anything like this

Great vertical panorama. I was once invited to speak at a conference in Edinburgh. The conference organizers tried to entice me with the prospect of tasting haggis. Having never heard of haggis, I looked up what it was. I was so revolted that I turned them down & ended up going to a conference in Rome instead (love that pasta!)...

Superb Neil...hope you get back up that way...and remember, if next time you fall in the river, Karen will feel much better! May reap some real benefits:)

Just goes to show that although it's nice to holiday abroad, there are some stunning places to see in the UK too. The Lakes has always been a favourite of mine. Just remember ... if you laughed when she got wet next time you could get 'nudged' :)

Clan McMoFo used to hunt the haggis and after many generations of ruthless pursuit, they were pushed to near extinction. Luckily a few survived and now they are a protected species, a shy creature for sure, only to be seen rarely during the Dec/Jan winter months ....... You do encourage the daftness mate (and that is good!) Great photo too ;)

You know....If you look really, really close into the darkness just under that branch sticking out from the right....I think maybe....Yes, I'm sure I caught a glimpse of....? I remember this from the first post. It's still a beautiful waterfall.
