Description

It's one of those 'Good news', 'Bad news' days.... Good(?) news is I've been offered a promotion at work, after 19yrs I get to put down the spanners and pick up a pen (mouse), swapping my overalls for a suit, that at least should be good for a laugh. One thing I never expected, having turned 50, was the need to prove myself again. The job has been offered on the grounds of service, reliablity and trust but is a departure in as much as I'm to be the Licenced Bar Manager, bit of a change from Technician. This isn't a leap into the dark, I do have some experience and I'm looking forward to the change, the challenge (and the money :-) The down side of all this is a huge change (and some increase) in working hours which leads me to suspect that, for the next month or so, I'm not going to be around Rendo as much.I have no doubts this change will make my time here more valuable to me than ever. The modeling will continue at a reduced rate (for now, can't install Wings3D on the works computer 'too soon' :-) So this is by no means goodbye just "I'll see you when I see you".....a huge thank you to all my great friends at Rendo, I'll still pick up sitemail when I can, but if you need a quick reply neilwilson268@gmail.com is always open. The photo is of HMS Plymouth (F-126), a veteran of the Falklands war and exhibit at the now defunct Warship Preservation Trust. The people of Plymouth are trying to raise £250,000 to get her back to her home port, until then she sits in Vittoria Dock, uncertain of the future...seemed appropriate.... Take care my friends and "I'll see you when I see you".... best wishes and warm regards Neil...

Go get 'em Neil. Any chance you'll be wheeling a cocktail shaker and doing tricks flipping bottles in the air and all that entertaining stuff? Or will you be in charge of making sure the bar tenders aren't overfilling the shot glasses? One way or the other, I am glad to see that the Rose Bowl(?) owners recognize a good thing when they see it! Understand about the hours...see you when you can get here.

Congratulations, Neil! Considering all the time and work you put into modelling (all without charge) you deserve something which will give you some more in your pocket (and less dirt on your fingers, spanners and all). Yes, it entails you'll be less often at Rendo, BUT that means we'll all be all the more looking foreward to your visits, images and new models. Personally, I have scarcely been able to wait 'til your next posts. So this will make the wait longer, but the fun more intense when you do have the time to post. Good luck with the new job! See you when we can! And,.... keep up the good work! :-) PS - nice photo. The ship's paint seems to have a blue tinge - is that the modern paint scheme on Royal Navy vessels these days? I do hope the ship can be "shipped" home and not scrapped.

Good luck with the new shift in your career. I am certain you already have it under control tho. Your time at rendo may be cut a little shorter, and we will miss that, but understand. Just makes what time you have even more precious. Awesome image, though a shame that history is lost in budgets.

Hi Neil Congratulations on the promotion, I am more than sure you have earned it. Very sorry to hear you will not be around as much as you have been in the past as I'll miss your frequant gallery input. I feel like I am also loosing one of my biggest supporters but I am sure that when you find the time to play catch-up the comments you send me will be worth the wait. Try to keep up with ABIS if you get the chance, its still got a long ways to go. Stay well mate and keep em coming when you get the chance. Phil R.

OK, OK, who have you been reliably servicing to get this promotion then mate? But seriously, great news mate, bar manager eh, I don't think I could do that job - way too much temptation! No worries on the comments front. we all understand how life gets in the way. but it has to be done none-the-less. Thanks for the heads up anyway and i wish you well, sorting out the (doubtless) headaches in your new role. Love your comments BTW, can't seem to match them at all in terms of quality, so thanks again - well see ya around ;)
