On my way to work I pass a pair of duck ponds. As seen in the thumb nail, upper right hand corner, there are pumps circulating the water, creating waves. As I passed the ponds, I saw that many of the waves had frozen at the shore line. I've seen this phenomenon before, but can not find a logical explanation for it. Does anyone know how this happens? Water in motion shouldn't freeze, but, here it has. I may add, it was quite uncomfortably damp, windy and cold.
The poor ducks, when they saw me, all came out of the water and tried climbing the snow and ice encrusted slope to get to me, probably in the hope of getting something to eat. Unfortunately, I had nothing to give them.
Enjoy! And don't freeze too much!

Interesting phenomena...have seen the same thing on a larger scale along the shores of Lake Michigan. Now I am feeling sorry for the ducks:)
