Description

Bill and Denise already posted pictures of our sunset the other night, but I had to add my two cents worth. Some of you might wonder what the big deal is with this particular sunset, especially if you live in a dry climate. Since it rains often here, the air doesn't contain much dust or pollution, which is what gives you those spectacular sunsets. When the sun goes down in the Pacific Northwest it just gets dark, with no fanfare and no color. If it's a cloudy day and the sky is gray, it gets progressively darker gray, and then it's night. On a clear day when the sky is blue, it gets darker and darker blue, and then it's night. Very seldom do we see red/orange/yellow in the sky. So this was a special occasion, which is why we were all gaga over it! This is a six-shot panorama, auto-stitched in CS5 and postworked within an inch of its life. :D Zoooooooooommm!

No need to explain "the big deal" - who is so jaded that they can't enjoy a sunset, no matter how many they've seen? Each has it's own charms & this is no exception. The soft gradation of colors in this one is beautiful & the shapes of those clouds are very unique. Are they the result of postwork or natural - I can't tell. Only wish I had a six foot long monitor to view this on...

Those wavy lenticular clouds there; when I saw them they were all right together in a line (I have some shots of it) and were amazing! They were just above a hill with lots of trees, and I couldn't get all their tail ends. Looks like you had a good open view here! Beautiful capture and big ol' pano--mine was just one shot, you got the whole sky! Well done you!

Haha! I remember being at whatever lodge was close to Ruby Beach in Washington and I wanted to shoot the sunset and my husband wanted to have dinner. So he said to me "Why don't we go into the restaurant and have dinner and if the sunset looks good, you can go out and shoot it?" Well, the sun went lower and lower and then Plunk! it was gone. Now I know why. He kept reminding me of that occasion every time we had the choice of picture vs dinner. LOL!
