Description
This is Ernie. He is a Black Turkey Vulture. He is a victim of habitat destruction. Sadly, after his home was torn down to build, the building project fell thru. His home was torn down 5 years ago and the land has yet to be used. When you raise a vulture as an only, they almost always imprint. Ernie thinks he is a puppy. He was placed in an educational program, but it is a sad thing to see a wild bird in a cage. To them, it is always a jail. The need to be free is so strong that I have watched animals just give up and die in a cage.

We have quite a lot of turkey vultures here in New Hampshire...but I've never seen a young one. Quite a mix of cute and not so cute, LOL. Habitat destruction is such a problem. Man was given stewardship over the earth and we have failed miserably!!
