"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky." -- Amelia Earhart
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Hehe I'm not a stickler for prop blur! With or without this rocks mate.

Oh this is great just over the tree tops and with amazing DOF too! And the prop blur is just fine too, it doesn't have to be really blurred, just a hint of blur conveys the fact that it is moving. Nice work on this one Bill!

A wonderful shot Bill.

Straight off this put me in mind of 'Battle of the Bulge' with that tree line, the aircraft running in on a German column.Brilliant capture Bill, love the letterbox format which provides a nice line of travel.'Prop blur'...I think you have more than you realise. That's my Rendo 15 minutes for the day, off to work for another 11 hours.....oh the joy :-)

This is very good and love the way u caught him above the trees awesome old plane.

Fantastic shot, Bill. You've got great prop blur here! Visible even without enlarging the image. My first impression was the same as Neil's - Battle of the Bulge. The enlargement is a wee bit grainy - post work? Next project for you - include sound with the post so we can all enjoy the sound from the fly over (and scare the blooming daylights out of our neighbeors - VROOM! VROOM! VROOM! over and over again!) Ha! Wouldn't THAT be great fun? But, that roar also warns the foe to duck. Flying so low, I assume you were on the airfield so he didn't have to risk such low level flying in amongst the trees. No landing gear down so he's not coming in for a landing. Would be fun to ride in one of those. Keep up the good work. Looking foreward to more of this series. :-)

Ha! I get the the same 'ribbing' about Prop blur.. And have some now! So, take no notice Bill this IS a blindingly good shot.. A Fave for sure.. Well done.. Grief, I hope its a sunny day at Legends! Rob

I like the idea of the plane flying so low - that you can virtually smell the top of the fir-trees, and then noticed the different layers of haze and depth of this capture, marvellous BB

Wow, shades of the magnificent movie, Empire of the Sun! Par excellent clarity, colors and photo manipulation in this wonderful image, Bill. And, since you're aware of it, I won't comment on the lack of propeller blur, but I sure would have liked to have seen some machine gun strafing fire coming out of those wings.

Perfect picture. I'm not such a fan of extreme prop blur, I like to see the prop's pitch. My favorite Mustang as well, I just wish they would've painted it in its later markings (to match its later airframe configuration).

Great capture, hon! I've enjoyed seeing everyone's comments ... I can hear the plane just fine, since they fly it over our house all the time! LOL! (I wonder what Harry thinks you're doing? I was there when you shot these, and I'm quite sure there's no manipulation here.)
