My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Wonderful textures Tara, i am interested solely in the brick wall and the interesting window :D Just kidding! Probably due to the fact it is 06 22 am here in London, and I am about to hit the hay, I saw a wee orange star on my little speech bubble and simply had to pay a quick visit :}
awjay
super old brickwork

I don't quite know what it is, but I'm just drawn to old buildings like this. I think I'd have a field day with my camera in this town - just look at those wonderful textures! A beautiful shot of a beautiful find, Tara!

Nice shot! It does look to be coming apart here and there. That lake area is indeed interesting!

Interesting shot and info, nice textures. BTW many thanks for the info on Fort Laramie.

It looks terrific! Just the window alone is so full of interest, and then the marvellous rhythms of the bricks and all the varied colours make it outstanding. When I read the title my mind flashed "how did Tara get hold of a pic of my upper arms?" Strange things, brains.

Great capture Reminds me of some of the buildings and stores like that here at home... The brick and the windows makes it very interesting.. Oh if the walls could talk....I am sure it could tell some tales I just posted a new one....would love for you to drop by Hugs Susan~

Looks like there has been some attempt to make some repairs to the building.. The white bricks (which don't really match at all) seem much newer.. But has stopped and now fallen into disrepair.. Shame.. Interesting looking brickwork though.. Rob

What a beauty of a find, wow! I love those bricks, they seem to tell a sad story. I've heard that area is wonderful, I'd love to check it out some day, and I do see what you mean about the river and the lake! But I will refrain from mentioning in polite company what it looked like to me on first viewing...sometimes having a medical background and a warped sense of humour are a bit of a handicap!

It seems time has washed away much of the mortar away. A very beautiful shot. Tara :D

I don't think I would want to take of residence in the building. Great Photo.

Wow, that window is fantastic, and anyway I like the colors of the bricks and your POV, Tara.

Yes! The brick wall, so full of character and age. Although we can't see the quality of the side wall, seeing the backwall like this reminds me of something I learned while living around lots of old brick buildings in Leavenworth, KS. It was common for the experienced brick layers (master masons) to lay the bricks in front where they were most often seen. But the back walls and sumps under the outhouses were the domain of apprendices...after all, everybody has to learn their craft somewhere. Your wall has it all...textures of age, light, shadow, decay. Glad we got there when we did. One of these days this may revert to its original form...a big pile of bricks:)

Fantastic light and mood. Superb shot

100 years old! so, a 'new build' then :-) You know I love old brickwork, it's always interesting to see how it 'weathers' in different circumstances. This appears to have had a bit of cosmetic refurb done,to the left of the window. Some nice corbelling below the gutters, I actually learned to do that in college, not as simple as it looks..great view of an old'ish building, the weathered wood in the window gives a nice contrast.

Very interesting textures and colors

This is such a nice capture Tara. It reminds me of my early days in Canada and the Eastern US. There were many free-standing buildings with walls like this. The broken windows just tell the story of better times in the past. Coeur d'Alene was a place where prostitution was supposed to have been legal in the early 1960s, or so the word had it at Paine Field.
