Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

you can feel the deep hush, the soft voices, filled with awe and wonder - just from this image alone

Okay, I'm sold. I won't spend two full days like you and Rob did, but when we go visit Kath, this is on my list. :)

I have also persuaded Dee tonight to visit the Gatwick aviation museum, we are on a roll Bill :D Nice lighting here my friend, I said I was going to enjoy these series of shots. As an ex RAF bloke I can only say MORE PLEASE!

Terrific Bill. I know just what you mean. That darkness is a challenge to shoot in eh!

nice work

After the life these birds have already had I doubt light levels will make one iota of difference, but the subdued lighting really makes your shot pop out! Well done!

Lovely shot and I like your POV Bill.

Very good! I could spend an hour there, then I should need to be where I can see out!
angora
beautiful!!! great shot!!

Superb light and reflections. Like Andrea, an hour would be enough for me too :)

This is really a nice photo of the lighting. A few single spots highlighting certain parts they want to bring out, as you say. Reflection on the floor and shiny metal spread the light to darker areas of the exhibit. Electric bills in large museums like this can be phenomenal! And,... I do hope the armament is NOT loaded/armed. Imagine a bad guy sneaking a bomb for extortion purposes? I assume the fuel tanks are empty for safety's sake. You've got a rather intersting variety of planes in this photo. Keep up the good work! :-) Thanks for comments on my last post! I have some 74 photos of the USS Alabama, BUT, a Microsoft upgrade knocked out my scanner! Drat them!

And in the U.K., most museums have lighting way higher than this, so you can see them, and take photos clearly.. So I think its a preference.. Odd that isn't it! But, you have taken a great shot here, really well done with it! Rob

A wonderful continuation indeed! This place looks neat-o! So much to see and explore... the mood here is wonderful, and makes you feel as though you're right there, captured in a different world! Fabulous photography!

Very atmospheric. I can hear the silence, if you know what I mean!

The lighting makes it dark & mysterious, something is about to happen :o)

I love that warm golden glow, it does seem to give it a visual sort of hush; it almost seems like they're trying not to wake up the beasts! Beautiful capture, Bill!

Your goal!...I'd say that's a hatrick...three out of three, blue ribbon for the photos and a gold medal for walking round this place....it looks huge!!!! 'Flying Legends' with a roof :-)
bobrgallegos
Wonderful capture under difficult lighting Bill!!! You really pulled this off. Well done!!!

Outstanding DOF and ambience of lighting effects, Bill. Me thinks I see a B-29 Superfortress back there.

Well you met - and exceeded - your goal, Bill! This makes you feel like you're actually there! It's difficult to get a good representation of the actual lighting, but you have managed it well in this series!

Excellent POV!
