Description
Another orchid from our daughter-in-laws collection. Dendrobium is a huge genus of orchids and today contains about 1,200 species. The genus occurs in diverse habitats throughout much Southeast Asia, Philippines, Borneo, Australia, New Guinea, Solomon Islands and New Zealand. The name is from the Greek dendron ("tree") and bios ("life"); it means "one who lives on trees". The blooms are about 3 inches (7.6 cm) wide, the colors are very pale and there are dozens of blooms on each plant.
