Description

...no, my last post was not tilt-shift photography, which is a way of photographing and postworking a real scene to make it look like a scale model scene. ...my last upload (see below) is one small corner of the huge model railroad called, "The Great Train Story", in the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. ...Andrew (Blinkings) got it exactly right. Way to go Andrew. When were you there? ...the scene above is very close to my last upload which is positioned only about 15 feet from of the scene above. ...the overall model depicts downtown Chicago, Illinois on one end with downtown Seattle, Washington on the other end and representative railroading scenes of the countryside in between to include the Great Plains, the Rocky Mountains and the Cascade Mountains. All ages of boys and girls, men and women appear to love spending time here. Bill P.S. This model railroad features thirty different operational HO scale trains. "What's This?" thumb_2310318.jpg

Another great one Bill. I lived in the States for a while when I was in my early twenties, but sadly have only had 2 very quick visits to Chicago. I would love to stay longer and see more. But anyway, I think I would have last been there in about 2003.

Oh, WOW, Bill! Thanks a LOT! I can see the elevated with a station to the left. There's SO much to see in this photo! Funny with the leaning smoke stack at the right edge of the photo (the edge really brings this out). And to imagine all the buildings are commercially available models - shows what a vast variety of building models there are in 1:87 scale and how they can be kit-bashed to make varieties not available in stores. I wonder how big this layout is? You've done a good job with this, since photographing a layout can be a killer job (not least, on one's back). And no flash. I'd love to see more. Keep up the good work! :-)

Incredible detail Bill. If you cut out the people in the top of the picture it could be a real street scene.

How very cool! I shall have to investigate the train shop in downtown Kirkland...I'm not really sure if it's a shop or a museum or both, I just remember seeing it in passing. Might be worth a photographic opportunity or two, although it won't be anything like the size of this one! Well done Bill!
