Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Thanks for asking Ron. Yes, I will make this a series...I've got more reasonably descent photos of this magnificent layout. I don't have everything but I've got more representative photos which are fairly good and will certainly provide a lot more detail.

A nice change from the ordinary of the world. :)

I'm really enjoying this series mate, as I never had a train set as a kid. :( I know this version of the train set is relatively new, but I 'think' that they have had this display going for 50 years or something. Don't quote me on that!
awjay
nice to escape from the real world

What a set-up!

Nice shot, Bill. Considering the width and the details, is this a panorama? You've gotten so much into this. I assume Seattle must be to the left, beyond those mountains. With the steel mill, grain elevator and other large industrial buildings to the right - would that be Chicago? Or St. Louis (steel mill there?), or...??? I'd love to see more in this series. The photos are excellent quality and the scenery work fantastic. I wonder how long it took to build. Do you have any statistics on the layout? I have some trains, but, in an apartment - no layout. Sigh. Keep up the good work! :-)

Oh gosh Bill...what I'd give to go see this in person. I just LOVE trains...Rob and I were so hoping to be able to go to York when I was there. The day we could have, we were plum wiped out and kinda over slept...lol There wasn't a day we had to stop and even think about adding another place to see, but the Train museum was sure one we were hoping for. Thank you for posting this, it is beautiful! My small train set sits in its box(s), waiting for someone to fix it, the track is messed up sadly and she just wont chug no more...sigh

It reminds me of western Nebraska and eastern Colorado before you see the Rockies. Nice.

Just look at that detail, are you sure they don't use this as a film set. Very impressive Bill.

It's so detailed! Even snow on the mountains...a labour of love, for sure. Wonderful capture, Bill!

Must really be fun to build such a landscape up for these little model trains :)

These things are cool. There's a local train store that does a show every year. Too bad this hobby is so expensive to get into.

That is a freakin' HUGE layout! Wow! And your photo does a remarkable job in showing the size of this - an excellent shot, Bill!

lovely to show the whole area

Excellent capture of the entire railroad expanse in this sharp shot, Bill. A ZOOM is absolutely necessary to enjoy it all, particularly the clarity and detail. Also a reminder for me to start posting some of my train and railroad pics again.
