Description
Captured 5/10/10, at beautiful Legg Lake in the beautiful Whittier Narrows Recreation Area in not-so-beautiful South El Monte, California.
Better viewed full size.
Sorry I'm late for the momentous occasion, Mark, or at least I think I am, because I don't have the exact date you were brought into this world, so it's all guesswork. Anyway, have a good one, or hope you had a good one, mate. Get better and look forward to having you back with us soon.
Not exactly Lake Michigan, or even Lakes Huron, Ontario, Erie or Superior, but it's about the best I can offer in re the genre for your BD commemoration.
Unfortunate about the power towers and wires in the background, but they are often situated inside or adjacent to parks and recreation areas down my way.
Sayonara, thankx for clicking on, and for any and all favs and NONcritical comments.

A beautiful capture for Mark and the reflections look superb too. What a peaceful looking place. These days it is pretty hard to avoid powerlines as they seem to be in all the best places.

Power lines or not, this is such a beautiful shot and lovely scenery.

First Harry, you're so supportive of my gallery & work, don't worry a bit if you missed the exact date for my birthday, as I almost did myself! Your presence in my gallery has always been more than enough, believe me. The image, I agree with Andrea, is like a watercolor painting; and it has a mysterious combination of luminosity and an almost "lowering" stormy power. (I don't think "lowering" is a current word, but Shakespeare used it, so I figure I can't go too wrong...Lowering skies, looming & imbued.) It's actually very midwestern in that way. (We get those skies all the time in spring & summer.) The water reflections are pure painterly, and the proportions are beautiful---ie, with a sky like that, a third of the shot is just right. And I agree with Nancy, you can't avoid powerlines, and they're barely visible, so again, nothing to worry about. (Believe me, the only reason I don't get powerlines in my shots is because Lake Michigan is huge, and there just aren't powerlines out in that abyss.) I'll be back in the next few days to see & comment on more, for sure; but for now, thank you so much: It's a beautiful & very mysterious capture, and full of beautiful reflections. And I so appreciate your remembering, whenever it may be. Thanks, Harry, it's a splendid multi-level capture.
