I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

The old ship makes a lovely perch for all those cormorants Carin.

Nice shot and at least the birds seem to be making use of it.

I love the composition of this Cormorant roost! Stunning, Clive

EXCELLENT IMAGE!

It is quite scenic with all the birds; did you get any closer shots of them? The ship looks like it must have been pretty well-built to last this long under these conditions!

Great Scott, almost, but not quite, the Wreck of the Mary Deare, in this awesome capture, Carin! I was wondering if you had gotten so close that you might have tried to board it for some cool shots of the rusted remains. Actually, you wouldn't even have to go onboard; just stand on the beach next to it and snap some pics of not only the vessel but also the huge waves battering it.

OMG! makes a great pic tho!!!

So interesting to see it year after year. There was a wreck out at the beach when I was a child, and I found it fascinating! There was a way to get on it, which we did, and the tilted deck was such fun. :) I guess you'll have to keep going back. :P

Fantastic capture.

Great shot, and a record of the slow death of this vessel.. A few more years and it will fall apart, I hope they drained the oil tanks of fuel Carin, or there will be a real mess everywhere! Good shot! Rob

The Skeleton Coast has its own special ways of welcoming mariners...seems like I read that somewhere;-) Very intriguing view perfectly composed.

So special to see this, dear Carin. It looks like the birds are happy with it, and enjoy their holiday on top of it.
