Description

At the height of its popularity "Space Science Digest" published several spin-off books, annuals and even a short-lived comic to rival the mighty "Eagle". Here we have one of the books which collected the most popular stories to appear in the magazine between 1958 and 1961. Large format and with nearly 200 pages it was a popular gift at Christmas, and being edited by Arthur J Crudworthy the readers knew they were getting the very best stories. Decided to return to old haunts and re-ignite the spark with SSD. This was an old model of a space city I built a few years ago, plus a couple of freebie spacemen for added charm. All rendered in Bryce and postworked in GIMP. Hope you enjoy, and thanks for looking. Iain

Wow...excellent lighting and colour palette in this one...definitely harks back to the glory days of scifi illustration...nicely done!(Is that the Captain Scarlet logo you used for your avatar?)

Thanks for the feedback ^_^ I felt that I needed to return to my favourite magazine that never was... and to retro space art type material. What I love about those old illos were the vibrant colours and exotic structures. And yes, the SPECTRUM logo is from Captain Scarlet... SIG heh heh

Awesome job, it really matches the style of the SciFi magazines from that era perfectly. Wonderful stuff!

Captures that pulp SF style brilliantly! Great sense of scale too.
