The foto I posted last night was taken very shortly after this shot. Just a few minutes made a huge difference.

Amazing, how fast it changes. I understand the further south you go, the faster night falls. Come up here, and it sets later and takes longer! :) Beautiful sky, and a great image.

The Chicago Lyric Opera has an advertising campaign going on now that's rather catchy and quite funny. The billboard I remember most distinctly features a young, modern singer, looking nicely modern and beside her image, there's a slogan: "More drama than a sorority election." I thought of that when I saw this image--but that's partially because I always tend to look for some kind of drama in the sky, and I'm never disappointed. It's also odd that I see this picture at this particular time, because of an article I read in a recent issue of Discover. It concerned, of all things, meteorology and the emerging theory that bacteria are largely responsible for actually "controlling" weather. That went swirling through my brain as I looked at this image, and it's the sheer gorgeousness of this image that got me to thinking and ruminating and all of that other head-stuff that I do. This is a superb image! Really delicious, in a visual sense. You've captured such wonderfully-intense gold. This rocks.
