Description
Aka Morea iris, Fortnight lily, dietes irideoles.
Ya see, I'm not all agapanthuses and roses!
Captured 5/5/12, in a nearby parking lot, early on a very overcast morning.
Dynamically digifiddled, and ZOOM worthy.
These plants are all over the place, which gave me the long delayed opportunity to test the macro setting on my ultra inexpensive PowerShot point-and-shoot camera. Results not too bad considering the poor lighting and being a hand held shot.
The flowers are small, perhaps about two inches or so in diameter. If the blooms were two or three times as large, they could easily be mistaken for orchids.
Adjo, thankx for tuning in, and for any and all favs and noncritical comments.

well, given the fullness of these beauties close-up, I wouldn't have guessed at how small they were. The clarity & contrast in the first shot is beautiful, and your 2 increasingly closer shots show how sensuous these little things are. You captured the contrast of that beautiful violet hue with the yellowish hues behind it; and also the way the violet petals bend up at us, or away from us. Beautiful counterpoint. The last shot is just beautiful. You wrote "Ya see, I'm not all agapanthuses and roses!" Harry, I don't even know what an "agapanthus" is! It sounds like a prehistoric animal! I know these names only when people like you post them; but I'm pitifully ignorant of types/species, etc. And you say these are plentiful? What beautiful flora you have around you. Well, you served it beautifully with these shots. One of these days I'll take-on flower-photography. Your gallery can serve as a textbook for me. You do these beauties proud.
