Description
Dietes iridioides, aka Morea Iris, Fortnight Lily.
Often misidentified as an orchid.
Captured 6/13/12, mid afternoon, in the parking lot of Trader Joe's and Office Max, in beautiful Cerritos, California.
Definitely worth a ZOOM.
Several shots of this lovely species were previously posted in my gallery.
And let me reiterate. I get some of my best foto stuff in, on and from parking lots.
Ciao, thankx for clicking on, and for any and all favs and noncritical comments.

you really framed these well, Harry, they fit perfectly into your image; and the diagonal works just right. Also, I love the light behind it. But the flowers are the thing, and you've captured them in a soft and straight-forward manner where they speak right to us. They're bold but soft, two qualities that don't always work together. But it works here. And I don't doubt that you get many shots in parking lots and side lots, etc etc. That's the essence of photography, I think, finding the picture wherever one is, and I have no doubt how much you do that. The camera can take a 'moment' out of a whole world and make it into a little universe of its own...so no one would know that you were in a parking lot, or near towers, or on a street corner, etc. It's wonderful that you keep finding the picture wherever you go, and you gave this pair of flowers a beautiful send-off...

A perfectly composed image of these African beauties! They almost grow wild here in spring and summer... Lovely to see them during our current winter. Thanks for sharing Harry.
