I have been into photography for over 40 years, and the pull doesnt lessen. As a family we have always been keen walkers, and that gets you to some interesting places.Ive recently been to Southern India as a member of an adult support team with our local community school to Chennai so the camera never cooled down i can tell you, (watch this space). I live in Chard South Somerset, and have fairly recently converted to digital, at first reluctantly, but now enthusiastically. Its great to hear others comments on your pictures and i am looking forward to loading up my space. Alan. Almost through my first week and inspiration levels have rocketed, thanks for all those comments they drive me on.

An impressive sight.

Excellent, can you imagine though the cost of maintaining this impressive structure, water features of any magnitude take a lot of money to test for Legionella and other water based bugs, interestingly, Legionella is visualized by a silver-ish stain, this is a silver shiny structure, so I would imagine they will be testing this voraciously..Jeez I am rambling here LOL! Brilliant shot Alan!

(I'm having server problems, forgive the several ebots...) fascinating thoughts from Ronnie; and btw, I didn't mention Richard's (ie, Richardphotos) comment in my last comment: Even in America, NY is a different world. People who go there for the first time feel they've almost traveled to a different country. But even Richard acknowledged a much friendlier place than he expected...But I digress...I also agree with the comments above that this is another fine capture from you. You've made the diving waters (foreground) as the base for the tower in the background: I really like that choice! You dive in and use all that's there. And you gave us that sheer glass-steel structure to the right, cut-off so we feel it goes on forever. I can see that, from the get-go, you came to terms with the photographic possibilities of the glass-steel and mixed facades of Manhattan, and all the geometric collisions and harmonies they provide; your sense of formal interaction is wholly alive here. Finally, your shot's 'tilt' makes the interactions all the more apparent. A lot packed into a little shot, and (no surprise), more fine work from you... (If you're interested, when I was in NY there weren't nearly as many glass-steel structures. But now the city has many. It's like walking down streets of mirrors, from what others me; though I'm told that the district around the WTC still has many of its older structures. It's funny how those glass-steel structures became associated with NY and even the big Asian megalopolises, as they originated from a German designer, Mies van der Rohe, even though the prototype started in Chicago with its ruddy old squat "high rises" of 16 stories, back at the turn of the 20th Century. Lot of cultures running through a single concept...)

Fine composition. I like the POV you've chosen & the light, reflections & shadows provide a lot of visual interest...

An excellent POV of the memorial. Sad to saw that I have not been down there to see it yet!
