Description

While delving into my innumerable files, I came upon this forgotten gem, captured 3/25/09, not in the rainforests of Costa Rica, but somewhere in the neighborhood. A departure from my usual offerings, particularly in the lighting effects. Avtio, thankx for coming aboard, and for any and all favs and noncritical comments.

That looks like a 'Peace' branch - (like in Love & Peace) LOL, very nice Harry! BTW our first day of Winter is always on the 1st of June, not the 21st! It has always been that way, same goes for Spring(1.9.), Summer(1.12.), Autumn(1.3.) - It's different here from Europe and America, don't ask me why! Cheers BB

with Andrea and Denise etc, it's gorgeous. Soft, mystical lighting. You've allowed the highlights to become liquid, esp on the main stem. And the angle, along with the fronds coming down on the left of it, make for very sweet counterpoint. As in your flower series, I love how you've explored light and texture in your nature closeups, and you've allowed light to dissolve it all too. Even the sunlit fronds in the background are sweet counterpoint. Beautiful, Harry. A fav. And btw, you are both right re. the seasons: The Solstices and Equinoxes occur on the 20th/21st, depending on the year and month. But the meteorological season begins on the 1st of that month, apparently because the meteorological patterns begin around the first---before the Solstices---rather than on the Solstices themselves. However, the common celebration is the Solstice/Equinox, as it's the most ancient way cultures have celebrated the seasons, since it's marked by the sun's place in the sky. I know, that's not the most earth-shattering gallery-comment in the world, but I couldn't keep it to myself...(Thank you, I'll be here all week...)

Palm fronds make for interesting subjects, and you captured some of that magic here with the wonderful light.
