Description

Duxford Flying Legends 2009, the rain stopped and the sun got to work, the giant B-17 doing it's best to cast a shadow.... OK! Rob has a similar image in his gallery, he caught more people and the 3 B-25's that completed this little line-up.Not sure why I was drawn to this particular group...maybe it was those very English 'brollie's. I was unsure about leaving 'The Lady' in the pink, actually I still am...but as somebody once said "publish and be damned"...what I had no doubt about was that line of very modern light aircraft parked in the background and running right through the middle of this photo.Remembering 'those transit vans', I borrowed one, crammed all the planes in and got rid....hope you like...

Cool capture. Putting it in b&w makes it really realistic looking - sort of WWII like. Rob will like it!

I have some pics of my Dad with his crew mates standing next to their B-17...looks like it could have been taken the same day. Pretty cool shots. Neil!

1944 for sure! Like the way you cleaned out the modern stuff and left the historic stuff. Well done mate.

Haaaaa! Glad you requisitioned a transit van and trashed all the modern planes in this photo! But it may have been more realistic to have shot them up with a Spitfire strafing run - a bit of a post-Luftwaffe visit photo. Now, I would have taken this for 1944 had it not been "Pink Lady" in pink! But, of course, it was popular at the time with hand colored post cards. So, this photo could have been hand painted to shock the socks off some mom or sweet heart back home! Great job with the black/white and photo grain work. The overcast weather helps with the effect. There seems to be a segregation in the photo - the guys in caps to the left look like - German officers? Are they captured? Or capturers? Hoo, hooo. But the rest of the uniforms give away - alied airmen. Phew! What a relief! Keep up the good work! These are really nice photos! :-)

I agree with T.rex. This could be a postcard from the time. Adding a little colour was all the rage then and it still stands out now so you were right to leave it in my opinion. More of these mate :)

I rather enjoyed the pink contrasted with the monochrome picture. Made it special .
