Hello! My name is Jodie. I live in Minnesota where the temps can fluxuate by 20 degrees in one day. Most of my photos have been taken very close to my home, a 10 acre hobby farm., where I raise Alpacas and chickens. I am a band director, a musician/singer and a photographer/adviser on the yearbook committee. My camera of choice is a Nikon. I have a D90 and a D70. I also have a SB800 flash and favorite lens is Nikon 18-200mm AF-S, with VR. Revisiting the visual arts is something I should have done years ago. If I see something remarkable, I just try to capture it. Nobody else will ever see it quite that way again so I hope you try that, too. This is just like expensive therapy for us. Thank you for visiting and may you have a peaceful day!

So very pretty Jodie! It's most vibrant and exuding the colours to brighten up the day! Excellent lighting, my Friend! I'm so pleased you shared this with us!

bold composition, Jodie, the flower spills into the shot from the upper corner. This would be great full size (before compression for RR) to bask in the hues. And you got the shadow on top, and let all the light come forth on the bottom, so it spills into the light. That's important too...because sunflowers are often captured (or painted) as broad yellow flowers, but without any gradations; but your shadow here gives them much more character. Also the upper petals have an 'inner red' in them, which I just love. I can't say why, but that kind of choice is a 'jodie' choice. The stamens have real variety too. Also---small point---you have some blue tints in the leaves under/around the flower, which I really like...Again, you get clarity in your shots mixed with a soft feel that just knocks me out; and it still feels like magic to me. Simple but beautiful shot. You do flowers proud. (You know, van Gogh painted sunflowers that burst off the canvas; but he also went 'inside' them to find their more brooding side, their 'many personalities'; and that made their sunniness---which is your wish for all of us here---that much more enjoyable, as a result.) Thanks for the wish to all of us! I don't know what you're getting, but we're gettin' 102 degrees this week. So much for "the cooling effect of the lake"...ha...What is it about the Midwest that 9 months out of the year are cold, and 3 of them are arctic; but come June, boom! It turns into the equator. Someone missed something when they designed this place...
