We all were just talking about humming birds. I'd love to see one just like this. Great patriotic imagination.

You could do one where the bird is moving his wings so fast ya can't see them and the blur is the shape of a star - cool art.

I love how the bird and flower move in an arc from the left top/bottom to the right center, as if it's all bulging in a dance bow or step. This one is awash in tomato reds; the background is vivid saturated reds with white speckles; and the humming bird seems to fade around the edges as if it's being partially dissolved by your signature light. Like your other piece in this series, you have the sensual flower and leaves, with the patterns of the flag on them, in this case almost like peppermint candy. And your star-spangled lady bug. And a beautiful 'soup' in the upper left and lower right corners, in which your leaves seem to swim...Though an image about patriotism (and the flag), you've once again taken a journey into the soul via the soft realms out of which your image emerges, in the 'deep' in some of your corners and sides (by 'deep' I mean the inner realm out of which your imagery often emerges), and in your morphing hues and emergence into bright and brilliant clarity. It's beautiful, Carol, and I always marvel at how you turn these themes into journeys of the soul. I'd do more tonight, but in the last few weeks time has been at a premium, and with my usual long comments in your gallery, I can only do one right now. But I'll be back for more. I hope you're well, and that the heat and the fires in your state haven't effected you or your loved ones. A sweet rest of July to you, hope it's temperate too...
