My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

If I’m missing from Renderosity from time to time, I’m busy having fun elsewhere.

That's going to change the rules of the old game of receiving a few strokes of the birch eh? getting a few strokes of the alder just doesn't have the same ring to it does it "And now number 1 the larch, The Larch, and now, number 3, the larch, The Larch"
jayfar
So you've been barking up the wrong tree then Tara!!! Like your shot though.

I love coming here after at least a few others have commented...particularly Jeff! A very cool shot of the Alders. It is a good thing we ran into a sign that set us straight:)

Great POV of these Alders!

LOL - well now we all know! Thanks, Tara! I would have thought them to be birch, too. Whatever they may be, they make for a wonderful B&W photo - especially in your talented hands, dear friend! :-D

I don't know what it is, but the textures and patterns are amazing, great shot, Tara!

Fun you should say that. Yesterday I stood and studied a very old tree in the forest thick of very rough bark and I took pictures of it of course and will post it some day. Then I looked up and saw it looked like a bitch. There were sooo many mosses on the trees htere, so maybe they do something to the bark and change it to be so rough. Dont know. But you took a beautiful shot of these alders :-)

Well, at first glance, I'd agree.. But then I'm not from around there lol Now! around Rosy's there are Beech....what kind, don't ask me! lol Her Dad would know though... He'd know ever tree out there! lol Good post Tara! Rob

Wow, I love what you've done with this shot! Great POV to start, and doing it black and white was a masterful touch. Really gorgeous!

Oooh! I would have thought that these were Birches, too...and they're not? My displaced inner Russian felt a surge of patriotism for a moment, and then went skulking off and grumbling about faux-birches, though the part of me that has just recently re-read A Wizard of Earthsea is really happy to see Alders...perhaps these are the Trees standing in the Immanent Grove (it's hard to tell because they'll be somewhere else when you look at them again, or they might be different trees.) And now that I've gone far afield--to Earthsea no less!--I will reign it in and say that I love this shot! The verticals are quite nice..."sexy" as a particular, loopy Czech friend of mine would declare, and "enough good" as a particular--slightly more reticent Russian would declare, after grumbling about the fact that these are not Russian patriotic trees. I love this photo.

Very impressive composition

This photograph has three things going for it - texture, texture, texture. (Did I mention composition?)
