Description
"May I look?" She found herself standing at the doorway. It seemed you had only to think or speak something here and it would be. She doubted that extended very far though. The other angel stood in the shadows. Out beyond the gateway was 'heaven' - very, very high in the sky . Out there. Judging from what she had seen in NASA images from Hubble, she was certain that she was looking at Galactic Center. The sight was overwhelming and yet, somehow she knew that this was a pale reflection of it. It seethed and writhed like some immensely huge living thing...which in fact it was. It was simply of a different order than puny little humans.
"You are seeing through my eyes," the Peacock Angel said. "Otherwise, you could not see it. Call it whatever you like. Words are merely poor descriptors of that which cannot be described or numbered. Feel it. Loose yourself in it. It's safe to do so here behind the gate. Experience it. That's the only way, you'll truly know what it is."
What was once Lisbet found no trouble in doing just that. She stood for a long time, feeling herself rolling and flowing through the violent explosive beauty of it. Like a child she watched in awe. "Part of this...?" A seductive thought. It seemed to tug at her, beckoning. Then she felt a hand on her shoulder.
"You will be violently abused out there before you make it to the biggest vampire in the galaxy, but you won't have to think about or be anything for a very long time. Out there, you are nothing but a tiny speck of dust in the cosmic winds. Finally, you will become something greater than what you are," the Peacock Angel explained.
'Come away now', the angel in the shadows whispered in her head. She felt a gentle force pulling her away.
She stood before the Peacock Angel again - who looked nothing of the sort at the moment. He looked more like dead Osiris, a golden death-mask glowing softly out from under the hood of his red cloak. "What is your impression of all that?"
"For me, I don't think it matters either way. It is only for others that it matters. And, it is only for others it matters. In some way, to go out there seems like running away," she answered.
"I will be honest with you. Either way is difficult - simply in a different way. But! Where your soul is at when you go through that gate, is your 'pinnacle'. Go now, lower eschelons. Stay and become more evolved. There are things about us you will not understand at first. We will seem quite contrary to what it is supposed and believed that we are. We are many things to many people. But we have to maintain our own coherence by the belief that we are who and what we are. That my dear, is sometimes easier said than done. That is why we had to make certain that you believed in your self."

Thank you all so much for your wonderful comments on "Moonchild". Have a fantastic weekend. At last, it is cool and raining here. Ahhhhhh. :)
Reminds me of a song!
This actually very old 'theology' if you have to call it something. But remember, it's a story ;)
Cheers,
Ray
P.S.: Background photo was taken by NASA on November 11, 2009. It is Galactic Center, in the region of Centaurus A. Nicked from Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD).

I love the sky. I'm always amazed by the beauty in the Space Telescopes photos. What are little things like us doing in a universe appearing to be far too big for us? Ultimate question...

What a choice. Become immortal and interact with those here or become immortal and make your way through the greater universe. At this point I might actually like to take my chances in the outerverse.

You give her a pair of both beautiful and perhaps horrific choices. There is no right answer but only a choice of ultimate options. Wonderful way of showing the beyond from a safe vantage.
