Description

On the night of April 14, 1865, President Abraham Lincoln was shot, by John Wilkes Booth, in the Presidential box, at the Ford Theater, Washington, District of Columbia. He died the next morning, in a small back bedroom, in a boarding house, across the street. Andrew Johnson, Lincolns Vice President, became the 17th President of the United States. The Presidential box has been maintained, as it was that night, still available for viewing and the Ford Theater still produces live performances on the same stage. The door to the Presidential box has been replaced by a thick sheet of Plexiglas for viewing from the back. Most info from the Ford Theatre web site! Photo scanned and taken a long time ago. Zoom does show the age of the photo. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

A very fine capture of this historical and sad scene. Abraham Lincoln is still one of the most known Americans in the world outside US I think. Some times great person pay the ultimate price...
