Description
Captured 7/6/12, around late noon, at the beautiful Rancho Los Alamitos in beautiful Long Beach, California.
A ZOOM would be nice.
Yesterday I showed a draft/draught/shire horse, and today we have a posting of the only two animals of this ilk at the Rancho. I was told they are but six months old.
They walked away at first, trying their best to ignore me, but then I started making baaaaaaa noises, which at least attracted their attention enough for them to stop and turn around.
And, not being an expert in this particular genre, I assume they're black sheep, despite most of their bodies being of a reddish hue. Never heard of red sheep, although I wouldn't be surprised if there was that variety somewhere.
Farvel, thankx for stopping by, and for any and all favs and noncritical comments.

Great capture of these adorable black sheep, it looks like it would be fun to raise them Harry

I love their sheepish faces; their eyes are so far apart it doesn't seem they could get any further to the side of their heads! And most black animals aren't really black, but dark brown shades. Maybe acid rain has bleached their fleeces a little, or the deadly UV rays of the sun? At any rate, capital captures of these fine sheep, Harry!

Adorable faces and such fluffy bodies!

Looks like they ignored the 'Wet Paint' sign on the fence :-) I've never seen sheep this color, most illuminating, thanks Harry.

I owned a goat once and heard that sheep are not too bright. That is the extent of my sheep knowledge. These guys look to be needing a shearing soon! They have shown you their best side from many angles. lol

Very different looking sheep to me – maybe because the need to be shared. Interesting colors also! Nice collage!

love some of the comments...I'd have thought Jodie would have owned more sheep in her life, given her farm experience. (I've owned squat. Not one...) And I think Denise is right, that most "blacks" in the animal kingdom are actually dark blues, browns, etc. But whatever hue or IQ these sheep have, it's a really fun montage, partly because their faces are really fun---and I agree with Denise about the eyes being several miles apart---because they look mangy as all getout, and because 3 of the 4 views are really humorous. In the best sense. The back view at end is like their commentary on us, and the front-back view of number 3 is also humorous, in no small part because it appears that one of the sheep is wearing a sweater tied around its neck. (Casual. Out for tennis. A sheep on the go...) Love these shots. Nice detail on the coats; and you have a pinkish hue in all of them that makes everything seem of a dream. Really nice collection, Harry. (Did you know that our word "pastor" originally meant a herder of sheep? Thus a church pastor is a herder of people. And thus our word "pastoral"---originally a place where sheep graze, ie, tranquil nature. Re. your "baaaaaa"-ing, some comic did a bit about our shouting "mooooooo" at cows, and the cows saying "what the hell is THAT guy's problem!" But anything for the shot. I'm totally down with that!)
