Description

“The Awakening” is a 70 foot (21 meter) statue, of a giant, embedded in the earth, struggling to free himself. This photo was taken at Hains Point, located at the southern tip of East Potomac Park, in southwest Washington, D.C. It is made up of four separate pieces – a head, a leg, an arm and a hand. It was created by J. Seward Johnson, Jr. and installed at Hains Point in 1980. It has since been relocated to the National Harbor in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, on February 19, 2008. The photos were taken the summer of 1983 and recently scanned. The photos are not the best quality but I liked the concept. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

I think I have seen this a while ago from the news. For those who are megalophobic like me, I would prefer seeing the photo instead of the real statue. :-)
