Horrors! An opiliones! EEK!
When I walked into my bathroom Sunday evening I saw this little fellow on the floor near the bath tub. I quickly got my digital camera and took a few photos. It did not move when the flash went off. It DID when I touched one of its legs.
Opiliones is also known as "daddy long-legs". Note the front legs are short, then come a very long pair, followed by a shorter pair and finally a long pair. I don't know why they have this arrangement. The original size of the spider was about 1/3 of that in the photos (my little digital camera, though old, never ceases to amaze me with what it can achieve)!
The top photo is of the spider's back, with its head to the left. The two jaws are visible. The main eyes are located on the sides of the white spot on its head. The lower photo is a front view of the spider. The two vertical parts are its jaws. Ever try to get a spider to smile for the camera?
There's not much about these spiders on the Internet. Here's a small site with some information about them -

I hate killing animals, but when they invade my home, out they go. This fellow was uncooperative, so I sadly had to give it a dreadful swimming lesson down the toilet. Sigh... wish I could have gotten him out the balcony door instead!
Enjoy!

Sad you had to kill it dude. We get a lot of these too but recently we seem to have been invaded by foxes in the back garden and they even walk on the path outside the front of the house without a care in the world.

Now THAT is just downright scary! Looking at it full size! Uuuuuugh! The 'portrait' shot, is 'awful' LOL A real shame the blighter had to die.. Mind you outside in the rain(if you've had the same we had), he wouldn't have lasted long! Good work mate! Rob

Well, in my yard, they are everywhere. Hopefully taking care of those things that eat the flowers. Outside is OK.
