Description

Speaking to a packed audience Wednesday morning in Geneva, CERN director general Rolf Heuer confirmed that two separate teams working at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are more than 99 percent certain they've discovered the Higgs boson, aka the God particle—or at the least a brand-new particle exactly where they expected the Higgs to be. The long-sought particle may complete the standard model of physics by explaining why objects in our universe have mass—and in so doing, why galaxies, planets, and even humans have any right to exist. More than we need to know?

Wow that is one powerful piece of work. Amazing, I think it represents the subject so well. Being a scientist myself I was going to respond but I see people like Arthur have summed up what I was going to say more eloquently than I can now. I see no need to think of limits for science or knowledge of any kind. The only limits I would adopt is a ban on state sanctioned religion. As Arthur says, no wars have ever been fought over scientific disagreement; the same can certainly not be said for religion. And yet religions constantly tout themselves as being for humanity.... they are for the most part pathetic and ridiculous.

All knowledge reveals a sword of two edges. Ignorance begets those who believed the LHC would create a black hole and swallow the Earth. Lovely image.

The fire effects are incredible. A very dynamic and apocalyptic image to illustrate the matter.

Fire is not my thing, that goes very deep. The way you have set this person in fire scares me a lot. Every one has his or her personal experience with this element. So,you succeeded to touch me deeply and that's where art stands for. Gr.Rudy.

A superb render, very well done. Is it more than we need to know?... . I have a science background so for me it is totally fascinating, as is the latest Mars landing.. to know how we got here, where we could be going, what else is out there.....but I also appreciate that others think differently..

Fabulous image and composition, Seth. Great craftsmanship and idea on this one. About the statement... The human race have a sick obsession, about explaining everything with scientific facts that can be measured and weighted. The sick obsession to be like God :) No happiness will ever be found there..only misery and destruction :)+5

Great fire effect. I had seen that on tv about the "god" particle. You did a great job expressing your vision of it.
