Description

Walking through a nearby cemetery, we came upon a special section set aside for American Civil War veterans...notice the "GAR" on the obelisk in the picture above. [The US Civil War was fought between 25 states of the north (known as The Union) and 11 states in the south (The Confederacy) between April 12, 1861 - May 9, 1865. The Grand Army of The Republic (GAR) was formed as the Union veterans organization in 1866 and dissolved when its last member died in 1956. Virtually, every town in the north had a chapter of the GAR.] Of course, I couldn't leave well enough alone, so I added a ghostly layer of four old Union veterans to give this photo a little something extra :) Bill P.S. For any of you with heritage from the old south, I promise I'll keep my eyes open for United Confederate Veterans (UCV) cemeteries on future trips to the south...

great ddition, Bill! battles come and go, memories remain... too bad when memories prevail. looking back to the past may help adjust the current flow of things, i.e. prevent one from stepping on the same rake. living in the past (or future) only means you refuse living in the present or living at all. Cola sends her very warmest to Mandy
