Description

Three young people angling on the river Bacchiglione, about 50 metres from my house. They don't row, but are carried by the relatively swift current of the river. The 'bricole' are those poles stuck in the river bed, signalling the shallows. The name of the bridge is Trieste Bridge, and in the background there is the Renaissance Venetian bastion and the park called Arena (because of the remains of a Roman arena). I don't know what they can fish, catfish aside, in this part of the river. Much more likely they will catch parts of bycicles, rags and old shoes... Thanks for your kind comments.

This bridge looks so romantic, especially with those flowers attached to it, great saturated 'paint job' ;)

I can only do a few images tonight, as I don't have very much time. So I'll end, tonight, with this. (Well actually it's early morning now in Chicago.) The filter feels like oil paint; the colors are like a dream; and you get an almost embossed or bas relief feel. It has the charm of an old linen postcard, and the feel of a dream. Everything is purple-tinged, and your background buildings feel like a scene from a folktale of enchanted happenings and hidden love. Your hues are charmed. And the broad sweep of river, with its dominant yellows and greens, are a wonderful counterpoint to all the activity around them. (What a river should be, in a city.) Beautiful and magical, with deep blue shadows---translate, 'inward'---and a very late summer-view, because of the deeper more introspective hues, unlike the saturated reds and yellows of your previous summer series. I post mostly shots of my neighborhood (and adjacent neighborhoods): It's a pleasure to see yours, as they're so very different from mine, so much more intimate. I'll comment on more of this series when I return, but it's a beautiful series with some very striking shots. And Sandra, I haven't forgotten my dedis: I just couldn't do them this summer, I just couldn't: A sick person in my life has taken up not just much time but much energy. But I'll get to it, I promise. I just need some more time...
