Description
Almost more fun than a car show.
Captured 9/14/12, early morning, within trekking distance of my devoted domicile.
A ZOOM is a must for full appreciation.
This is a follow-up to the photo I posted back on December 19, 2010, showing a front three quarters POV of the same auto.
The slowly deteriorating old boy is situated within a locked enclosure, so this was a long distance shot, snapped through a chain link fence. I've tried to locate the proprietor of the property so I could gain entrance for a series of closeups, but to no avail.
I feel, from past experience, that it would take more than a new paint job, shiny tire/tyre rims, and air in the tires/tyres to bring it back to its former self.
In addition, a boat in the back for Denise.
Sayonara, and have a nice day.

So THAT'S where my old car went, LOL! Oh my, what a sad end for this beauty...it becomes apparent where the term "rustbucket" comes from. Not much left to restore here, you'd basically have to replace EVERYTHING. Great shot through the fence, Harry, and thanks for the boat!

A real beauty, I love the early 50's Chevys. It's a crime to let one get into this state though. Probably beyond restoring but if it were in the UK i'd have a go :)

as I approach 2 hours here, I still haven't done one animal shot, one bench shot, one of your beautiful cloud shots, or that nail-on-a-post shot yet. But I have to end here---so you'll have to forgive me for choosing yet another decay shot! But this baby is just a gem. I appreciate that all lovers of old cars would love to see this in pristine condition: But, again, from the photographic perspective, this is as much fun to see as the pristine original. And extra kudos for doing it through a fence! The light on it is subtle and complimentary (I mean that, even though it's a heap of a car). The condensation inside is given with a gentle greenish tint, I LOVE that stuff hanging out of the trunk (or beneath it). The angle of the car is perfect---kind of sunken into the ground due to the uneven flattened tires. And it's well-seen between the trailer and the boat in the background (which Denise kindly acknowledged---I loved her whole comment). You did a fine job, too, of contrasting the out of focus background with the in-focus car. Your tones here are perfect for the beast (the hues and light), and the thing sings of decay and of holding-on. And there's dignity in that, ie, in holding its shape and presence despite years of decay. Like some of those old RR cars that sit in long-abandoned train yards, they just hold on. Beautiful tones and a beautiful old beast. I love this. More terrific seeing from you. I hope to be back sooner than last time, but at least you see I've been looking all along. It's a real treat!
