Description
An orchid for each century mark.
OMG, where has the time gone? It seems just like yesterday when I posted #2100.
In fact, it seems just like yesterday when I took this photo.
Captured back on 10/18/09, at the beautiful Orchid Show held at the beautiful Huntington Botanical Center and Conservatory in beautiful San Marino, California.
Most ZOOM worthy.
An indoor tripod-mounted pic, taken with my now defunct Konica/Minolta DiMage Z3.
Auf wiedersehen, and have a nice day.

I'm 2 weeks later than I wanted to be, but at last I can sit with your work and share meaningfully. I don't want to just say "nice job": Your work deserves much more, Harry. I've seen a few examples of this type of light in your gallery, and I don't know how in the world you find it. It may not be light, but rather the way you've lined up the white portions of the central bulbs (the purple sections) with white lines behind it: An act of pure intuition, pure magic. In the flower facing us, the top of that central bulb is white; and it's in perfect sync with the white lines behind it. And the result is like an actual light inside the flower. A little night-light right in its center. You have a similar sync in the flower facing left---the white bulb with white lines in the petals behind it. And even at the bottom of the purple leaves, you have the subtlest light once again, like there are little lights inside. Your eye is so keen here, as is your postwork. Overall, it's a flower tilting slightly in our direction, as if to greet us. Beautiful and so subtle. I always have to remind myself that the artist who presents these sensual flower captures is the same photographer who finds revelations in padlocks and chains and rust and nails. (Your latest nail-fest is a big giddy feast. If I don't get to it this session, I will next time for sure. Love the image, and I don't think I've seen anything that infested in all my walks in Chicago...) Perfect for another milestone, a subtle and glowing portrait. Congratulations and many, many more...
