Description
Seedy is as seedy does.
Not exactly a candidate for Better Homes and Gardens Magazine.
Captured 9/28/12, early morning, within much too close a distance of my hallowed haunt.
ZOOM for better detail.
I've passed by this mini mansion for years already, so I figured it was about time I included it in my gallery.
The entire pavement at the bottom is the driveway, one indication this was a garage conversion. There is no sign of an adjoining house.
Actually, it may look crummy, but other than the neglect and corrosion, the structure appears to be in pretty good shape. The window cooler and mailbox look good; just get rid of those yucky Venetian blinds(?), the junk at the bottom, replace the light, give the wood frame and door a sanding and fresh paint, and voila, you have a lovely cottage!
Adjo, and have a nice day.

It kinda looks like a garage conversion . It does exhibit signs of neglect and with a little TLC, it could be something to live in. An unusual capture. I have to say.

Wow Harry, can't say as I've ever seen the blinds on the outside of the window. That is new for me, but I can tell they are bold and not afraid to try new things ;)

Certainly in need of a makeover, that's for sure. A little paint and TLC and maybe a couple potted plants in place of the trash bags and you would have a charming home.

Yes its a shame they don't go to that little bit of work but maybe that is the impression they want to convey to the burglers that they haven't got anything to steal. :) Hard to live nearby though.

Oh dear, not quite as nice as your lovely condo community. I'm not too keen on the plywood window replacement around the air conditioner, and the bags of trash and plastic bottles in the front don't help. If it were mine to do I'd remove the concrete and landscape it with a lot of bushes and trees for privacy. Excellent capture, Harry!

well you're right on everything you said about improving the place. And you inspired your fans to think about the same, lol. But from the photographer's point of view, this place is a gold mine! I mean, it's another terrific find; and your face-forward, flush-on capture apologizes for nothing: It just 'reports'. I even like the fact that you got a slight angle to the capture, it fits the place perfectly. With Dave, blinds on the outside? Do you know how long I would have to look to find a place like this? I think with your eye, you just log these things and see them where many others wouldn't. The patterns in the blinds alone are worth the shot, not to mention that awful plywood around the window a/c. Or even little things like the bent light to the left of the door, the slightly bent mail slot, all that wonderful door decay, etc. This may be painful for the owner, but photographically it's amazing stuff. And you gave us some sidewalk, which gives openness to the shot. And a little sky for reference (with that desolate little attic up there). Man, what a rich capture. If I had time, I'd love to paint a shot like this; but it would take me weeks...to much detail to paint. Terrific seeing, terrific capture.
