Who can ever forget Dustin Hoffmann in the movie role of 'Papillon'? Every time I see this beautiful Butterfly, I am being reminded of it ... and when I am very lucky I can spot the occasional 'Dunk Island Butterfly' (papilio ulysses) dancing in midair or around the highest tree on our property and this particular one, just had to have a little rest in our driveway ;) don't you just love Spring? (BTW we are 110m above sea-level on 3 acres, this may have something to do with it?) *** It is unusual to find them here, as they are inhabitants of Dunk Island on our world famous Great Barrier Reef, which is about 1,000 kms away from here! Dunk Island lies 4 km off the Australian East Coast, opposite the town of Mission Beach. The island forms part of the Family Islands National Park and is in the larger Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area.
