Description

I tend to favor these old birds. The Curtis BF2C "Goshawk", one of the fabulous Curtis "Hawks", was one of those transitions from the biplane era into the next. It didn't last long, but some of the improvements found their way into the air fleet for many other aircraft to come. It was manufactured and imported to many countries but had only a very brief history in the US Navy. I guess unique looks and lack of history intrigues me on this one. Kind of has the appearance of a biplane version of the muscle car. Sea and wakes are superb and that is a stunning biplane. I love the old/new of this era, biplanes with closed cockpits and retracting undercarriages. Wonderful work Bill.

I think the thing that strikes me is how colorful the planes where...pre-war I know, but they didn't paint the carriers day-glo orange so the lack of any attempt at 'military' paint schemes seems strange...... Brilliant image Bill, nice combination of models in a very realistic setting, love the carrier coming out of the mist....pure class mate...

Looks fantastic! The crisp colour of the aircraft versus the haze grey of the ships! I also find this transitional era to be fascinating - even if they are mostly forgotten today. Maybe one day I'll have enough models to stack the Lady Lex's deck with a full complement of biplanes!

Another beautiful yesteryear piece. The interwar years was a great era for the ARMY/NAVY flights historically, Schneider Cups, endurance races around the world & very colorful schemes, you have captured the era quite well. Well done.
