Description
The Stanhope Arms in London near Gloucester Road station in Kensington. It's a totally unpretentious working class pub frequented by locals or unobtrusive tourists like me. Surprisingly genuine given its location near hotels and a tube with an easy direct connect to Heathrow. Not taken over by the Albanian Mafia like several other once great pubs in the area, this pub feels real and is a great place to meet some characters. This is the place I go when I just want to have a pint or two of Fuller's London Pride on draft.
Last year I wound up sharing several pints with a computer engineer from Russia who from working experience warned me about the culture shock of eastern Turkey vs the western part. I didn't really believe him at the time. He was right.

Like the bright colors & the slice of real life feel to this. Proves that London can be bright & cheerful despite the drab weather & mediocre food. No offense to the British intended, by the way - I've only visited England once, over 40 years ago & have fond memories of the country & it's people (despite the fact that London was the site of my breakup with a girlfriend I had lived with for over a year)...

Love the vibrant coloring. This is such an interesting photo from the standpoint of the people. The scene details, such as all the signs and accoutrements are great, but the lone woman with standout red hair contrasts with the table loaded with boys knocking some back. Great tale of life in this image.

Arthur, I agree, it's that lone woman, in a crowded pub scene, with an unattended beer glass that really makes the picture for me.

One of the aspects I like about RR so much. Here we have an image that can stand all on it's own, but we get so much more. A resteraunt review, and a look at another place and culture. A candid moment of daily life there completes the presentation, visually stimulating.

What an awesome looking image, Roxy! Again, you've managed to make a scene that looks like a really good painting. The lady there by herself - perhaps waiting for someone to return from the loo or having been in an argument, the other left. She looks sort of fretful. Definitely something on her mind. Beautiful post-work/after effects on this and an excellent shot!

Good shot indeed!! From the looks of it the lonesome ladies' gent just slipped into the Mac store across the street...:) You waited for just the right moment to take the shot..nobody looking at you and loads of little details to keep the eye occupied..like the sweater on her lap and the one thrown over the back of the seat to the right. You got a great eye for things like that!
