Description

Hello, wanted to try out my new computer's performance, as some of you are aware, my old computer died out this summer. I've been using this new one but haven't had a chance to try out it's performance, since I've been mostly 3D modeling & using P/S, these don't task this new computer at all. I figured I would take some time out to try out a large poser render, with as many models as the computer would handle, after 30 models poser began to be sluggish on the parameter dials but the rendering was still OK so I added a few more models. Some models I purchased, others are rendo, shareCG or Google Warehouse freebies, some of the Espona models came through a Taschen 3d book I got. I decided to render all the ships according to their classifications, Battle Wagons, Flat tops, Tin Cans etc... The models are from Beyond VR, The Schell, Bazze, Briney, Neo Odeo, De Espona & the Google 3D Warehouse. The Water is a material from Hobobo, tiled at .1 with a .25 displacement on a simple primitive plane, this adds a nice calm sea look, the waves look just right against the ship's hulls at this scale, no post work. Used simple occlusion lights rendered without indirect light in poser 9. Even with my new computer Poser 7 was crashing at 28 models, still not bad, but poser 9 handles better. Final tally, 34 models. Back left to right: Carriers: IJN Akagi, USS Essex, HMS Victoriuos, USS Casablanca. Battle Ships: USS Missouri, IJN Eso, USS Arizona, HMS Hood, KM Bismark. Middle left to right: Cruisers: It Pola, USS Chicago, USS Vincennes, HMS Belfast. Destroyers: IJN Kagerou, USS , USS Fletcher, HMCS Haida, USS Wilkes, It Zefiro, HMCS Snowberry Cargos & Tenders: USS Vesta, Liberty Ship, 2 unclassified IJN Maru Cargo Ships Front: Submarines: IJN I400, IJN I16, HMS Tabbard, USS Gato, KM Type IXb, KM Type VIIb, KM Type XIII Torpedo Boats: KM E Type Shnell Boot, US PT-class Motor Torpedo Boat: Elco PT 109, Higgins PT 32 Thanks for looking

Wow, Louis, that must be some machine!!! Would like to know the specifictions of it as I'm planning on purchasing a new machine in the next year. I get tired of crashes and slow downs and having to compromise my artistic visions to the demands of my computer. Sigh. Like I'm the Lone Ranger, right? Quite a fleet you have there too. I probably have at least a third of them myself.

Nice work, and to think its all done in one render! Looks like the fleet of plasic models I have behind my back in one of the kitchen cabinets, excepting I don't have any carriers. I'd love seeing what you can do with these in future renders! Keep up the good work! :-)

That's some tonnage mate, hope you re-enforced your desk.... :-) Some serious pixel wrangling here, very impressed by the array of models not to mention the stamina of your new 'puter'. Glad to hear your new computer is up and running, I'll raise a glass to calmer waters ahead....
