Description
A shadow which looks to me as either a dragon or a Viking galley/longship, captured 10/30/12, very early morning, within striding distance of my hackneyed haven.
Inexplicably, I didn't notice the resemblance to the aforementioned until after the shoot.
Digifiddling was employed in cleaning up the garbage of tiny stones and twigs around the branch. And, sorry about the pavement texture. They don't finish them off nice and smooth like they used to. What I deem shoddy workmanship.
Sayonara, and have a nice day.

Fantastic capture! I think it's a dragon which just swallowed a longship.

First thing I saw was a Dragon. Very cool catch.

I can see both the dragon and the Viking ship. And as for what you removed from the shot, brother, if you didn't tell us, I'd never known. The minor surgery was flawless. As for the poor workmanship of the sidewalk, I agree about shoddier standards as time goes on. But I gotta say, from the photograph's pov, it's splendid; because all that imperfection makes for a terrific surface. It should be said that you'd do just as finely with a smooth surface. But this one has wonderful variety. I think I started out, this session, saying you are a master of your early morning light---though you do just as well with all other lights: This is a prime example of that. It's semi-golden, though largely yellowish in hue. It has undertones of violet or red. A tad of blue. (I sound like one of Andrea's perfume bottle descriptions, don't I? But it's all true, these early morning hues show many values, in your shots.) The simplicity of branch, shadow and sidewalk is made very rich by all that light. And the clarity of textures, not to mention the big bold shadow itself, make this more very rich minimalism from you. Minimalistic, but really packed. We even see the striated diagonals in the sidewalk...This is archetypal stuff, Harry. And someone above mentioned LWitG: Your images belong there constantly, as you belong in Gallery of the Month as well. (Well, you belonged there a long time ago.) This remains one of the consistently terrific collections on the site. I have to go, as once again it's about 2 hours since I began; but I'll be back to visit others, soon, and will come here again, I've barely commented on a 10th of what you've posted. (I've barely commented anywhere else, though. Maybe 2 or 3 comments, total, in the last several months.) Just terrific work. I love it.
