Sometimes you hear about something or see other people's photos and you can't really appreciate what they have seen?
I went to a part of Tokyo called Odaiba today... it's an ultra-modern development on a man-made island... and in a plaza is a full-size GUNDAM!
18m tall and with animatronics in his head and arms, this beast took my breath away.
I can't say I'm a Gundam fan, but when you see something this awe-inspiring, interest can start.
I took masses of photos of this thing (and bought a model kit, heh heh)

Just as I was leaving I heard a choir of angels, turned and the eyes were lit up, and the head was moving from side to side. Lots of FX noises and Amuro Ray, its pilot, shouting lots of encouraging stuff. That would have been amazing after dark. There is a model shop at the side of the Gundam, and a cafe up some stairs... they call it a cafe, but it's just a small shop selling tat and Gundam themed snacks and drinks. All good fun ^^

They also Have a fullsize GunHed Model in one of the parks that was used for the film (Ganheddo)... it's kinda neat to see things like that :)

Awsome!!!!! I want one, why haven't we got a full size Thunderbird 1 or Sky Diver somewhere? If you want to engage an audience this is the way to go, the trouble in Britain is, you'd have to keep it in it's box to protect it :-(

I know what you mean, Neil. There's a police box in Glasgow near Forbidden Planet which was restored with funds from DWAS and somewhere else. Within a week one of the windows was broken and it had been sprayed. I think the GUNDAM has a guard, but the bronze Godzilla in Ginza doesn't, and the last time I saw that it was still perfect. I also want a full size Thunderbird 1 in the middle of somewhere... maybe a gate guardian for an RAF base, lol... ironically the only full-size Thunderbird was TB4 for that awful live action film, and their joke versions of the MOLE and FIREFLY.
