Description

Last time I picked up the camera was a couple weeks ago to image the pumpkins. Having said that, can you probably guess what this big dummy did? That's right, I left the ISO on 3200 and did not think to check it before running off some 160 images at Yosemite. Was heartbroken last night when transferring them to the PC. There really was some potential beauties. Had some great panoramic stitches planned from this spot. The late day was cooling down quick and where the sun had just been, ground fog now appeared, and with all the reflections in the river and the bright granite and blue sky.....Oh I could just kick myself sometimes. I heavily post worked this one shot in an effort to see what could be corrected. It's not pretty I know, was looking forward to these shots too. Hope two things come from this, one being I hope to have learned my lesson finally. Secondly, it gives me a reason to go back another snow fall. ;~) To the kind souls that leave their mark whether a comment, rating, or save the image as a fav, you are very much appreciated, thank you!!! Thank you all that viewed my last image below. thumb_2384825.jpg

I hate it when I do that!! I think most of us have made that mistake or one real similar.... Lovely color and fog. :)

The atmosphere, reflections & scene are stunning! I've had the same problem when taking photos. I know how disheartening it is!

When talk'n camera jargon is like speaking a foreign language as I only know how to point and shoot....lol..I fail to see any flaws in this most stunningly scenic wonderment of beauty so....It maybe isn't as bad as you thought considering if not mentioning what you forgot to do one would not be the wiser....(smiles)... Hope that this eases your mind knowing some here like me find nothing wrong with this image but can only imagine if you had not forgotten to do the thing you mentioned you did that the outcome here would just be that much more stunning!

Gorgeous shot, even with the noise. I have made that mistake, but usually the whiteout in my view finder alerts me to the problem.

I like this a lot (especially that line of blue mist), despite your disappointment...

I think you're being overly hard on yourself - this is still a stunning shot with superb composition.

I don't see a problem here. The grain only enhances the image which is stunning to begin with. Outstanding light and composition.

Oh dear, I've done that too. It really is kind of depressing. Nevertheless, this is a stunning image Dana! Love the fog in this - very eerie looking in contrast to the upper portion of the picture. If they're too bad to be reworked, you can always do what FaeMike does with some of his photos and filter them in PShop for some 'artistic adventures'.

It's still beautiful, with that rich deep colour. Neat Image is really good at removing a lot of noise, if you haven't tried it. I'd be lost without it!

Sometimes mistakes are a really give unexpected results. Amazing, right? What hits me most is that El Capitan and Haft Dome the mountains names I think, are in bright light with minimal definition but the reflection shows all the beautiful mountain detail & texture. Fascinating a reflection clearer than life. Whatever the reasons, great work.

When I first got my camera, I somehow managed to change everything to black and white---got this incredible shot of a young hawk--in B&W. It was till a good shot, but in color would have been great. We all do it!! Still, this is gorgeous!!
