Description

There were a couple of very narrow slot canyons along the Elephant Hill Trail that required some climbing. This is my friend & traveling companion on this trip, Michael, as he works his way through one of those slots, while another hiker waits behind him. There were several spots like this where we had to use hands & feet & body friction to carefully lower ourselves along. Michael & I have known each other since our sons went to daycare together almost 35 years ago. We have been on many trips together with our wives, but this was the first trip we took without them. We have both become more engaged in photography the last few years & since he retired this year, we decided it would be a good opportunity for us to take a trip together - one where the emphasis was on photography, the wives wouldn't be constantly telling us that we had taken enough pictures & to hurry along & we could travel at our own pace. It turned out to be a lot of fun, we both took thousands of photos & I'm hoping we have a chance to do another trip together in the future...

A photo your friend will remember. Thousands of photos? Try doing that back in the film era.

It's such fun travelling with another photographer! (I had such a good time, I married mine!) :D Looks like you and Michael had a fantastic time, and I hope you get to go on more trips in the future. I agree with PK ... is he interested in sharing some of his photography with us? It's always fun to see two points of view on a single trip. People see such different things, even when standing in the same place!

PK & Tara - I have tried to talk him (& another photographer friend) into posting on Renderosity, but with no luck so far. They both post photos on Facebook, which I refuse to join for various reasons, but where I occasionally lurk on my wife's account. But I'll keep working on them...

Cool shot! I think I'd be wearing long pants, just in case of slippage, mind you

What a fantastic in-the-middle-of-it kind of shot; looks a bit scrapingly dangerous. With my propensity for injuries these days my only chance to see something like this is through the camera lens of the more intrepid out there, like you, so thank you very much for sharing this beautiful shot!

A spectacular photo opportunity and I am not so sure that I could have made it through there. A great shot!
