Description

Or Chair on curb, whatever. Captured 12/20/12, very early in the AM, within trekking distance of where I hunker down. The chair evidently left at the curb for anyone driving by interested enough to stop and haul off this rare objet d'art. In any event, just one more of my shadow pics. Never know what's waiting for me out there when I get up in the morning. Incidentally, the temperatures have currently been in the low 40s fahrenheit while I've been out on my walk and shoot. Arrivederci, and have a nice day.

Great capture Harry, and good thing you were the first one to come along to claim the chair ;)

A low hanging sun produces the coolest shadows. "The Sundial Affect" in this shadow looks similar to a Harp. Nice capture! :}

Very long shadow captured here. We are having our first cold spell here tonight, into the forties.

The neighborhood watch, eh? Really excellent long shadows here, Harry; you must get up and about early, much earlier than I ever do! Lots of little sparkly bits showing in the street...wonderful find and capture!

I hope you had a little rest on your walk while you were there. A cool shot.

I bet if you left a for-sale sign on it, someone would quickly stop by and take it... Interesting giant chair shadows. Aloha

outstanding indeed. Took my breath away when I first saw it. You know, to a quick viewer, I suppose these early morning sidewalk shots might seem to have the same hues---but to one who looks closely, you get a whole range of variations, and just on sidewalks alone. This is yet another version of that early morning amber/beige/gray/yellow. And the intensification around the chair is eye-popping. Your camera and postwork are superb. The shadows also intensify under the chair; and, as Denise says, you get all these sparkly things in the streets and sidewalks. I imagine mid day shots---when people are out---would camouflage them. And you allowed a few tufts of grass, atop, along with some standing thing (ie, where the street meets sidewalk, atop), producing strong shadows on top---a fine upper accent. And the grittier sidewalk tiles on the lower left, compared with the smoother ones in the center, etc, and few 'whiter' ones in the upper right---these are the abstract elements you pick up so often, making this a real study in minimalist contrasts. A sweeping image, whose light---for all its bleakness---is very rich and intense. Another masterful shot. They just keep coming. And while I'm very happy to see 11 comments before me, it's worthy of another 60.
