Description
View from the starting point of the White Rim Overlook Trail in the Island In The Sky section of Canyonlands, which is located a short distance from Moab, Utah. If you look closely, you can see a couple of very small people in this scene (well, actually they're normal size people, they just look small in this landscape).
Although the views are very impressive, I found Island In The Sky much less interesting to visit than Needles. It's mostly a drive around & look kind of National Park, with relatively short & not very challenging trails. Kind of like what most tourists experience at the Grand Canyon. It was worth a half day trip, but that's about as much time as I'd recommend allocating to it if you're thinking about visiting...

I like that name, Island in the Sky. That is just what this landscape is all about but I had not heard it called that before!

Amazing vista; I can imagine it with water all around, and those peaks emerging as islands indeed. Wonderful capture!

Great landscape. Well done

Beautiful scenery. I hardly ever use trails. Anything unusual to see or find is usually done off the trail.

Beautiful colors, blends, texture and striations in this gorgeous scenic capture.

We've got this area on our list for autumn of 2014. (It's good to have a plan, but of course all plans are subject to change without notice! LOL!) You're really whetting my appetite for these gorgeous canyons!

This is a great viewpoint and it did take a minute to find the two people!
