Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I love seeing kelp on the beach. It's one of those "ahhhhh ... everything is right with the world" sort of moments. This is great!

I love you design talent. And here is hoping you get a 4 wheel drive for future excursions :)

our beaches are throwing up some amazing compositions in our recent deluges

I noticed the dog signs first too. These big whips always remind me of tadpoles (and sperms, sorry; 25 years as an embryologist will do that to a person!) Great compo, it was very kind of the waves to leave it curled so nicely for you.

Pretty long piece of kelp you've got there, Marilyn. The low angle of the sun did wonders for this impressive capture.

That's the good thing about a 4-Wheel Drive, you can go a little further and do things as compared to a 2 wheel drive... I can imagine that you have a collection of things.... Happy New Year! Aloha

I love this shot. There's so much in it. I also love the fact that there are human and canine prints in the sand. I'm sure the dog stopped for a moment to get a good sniff of the kelp-snake. And that brings me to the bit of plant matter. It really does make me think of some kind of serpentine thing: an odd sea-worm or some such critter I'd attempt to raise, or at least photograph in snamelessly-intimate detail. I love the shape and the way the light and shadows dance around.

I like the collection of foot/paw prints all over the beach.
