Description
One of those moments that are special about flight to me personally is the moment that the wheels are no longer in touch with the earth and my stomach reacts with a nervous thrill to the realization. Part of the kid in me that still has a sense of wonder about things I guess.
(I have mixed feeling about that thrill coupled with a bomb load meant for some havoc.)
A little something about the frequency of my posts. I don't just "pop" these out. I have a considerable library of attempts and try-out renders that just didn't quite capture what I wanted. Sometimes I get on a run with solutions or new techniques to try to get the effect or atmosphere that I want so I troll my files and drag out something that I think I can finally get to work...and then there is always some great new model to take for a spin. I say this in part because I have often been intimidated in my artistic endeavors when I see a professional artist put out consistently fantastic work and I start to assume that it is practically effortless for them. I'm always amazed at my artistic amnesia when I realize that they often struggle to accomplish their work...just like me. Every try-out is something new under my belt, and the solutions to something that doesn't work today for me may pop up from a totally unlikely place tomorrow...or next month. Anyway, I really enjoy the discovery and trial and error process. It never ceases to delight me...like the moment when the wheels lift off the ground...

Flight Gear: adh3d WW2 flight gear here on Rendo
Barracks: free somewhere (apologizing for my memory lapse on this one and thanks to the modeler)and texture-tweaked.

Beautiful image Bill, the letterbox format really works with this, a nice 'sweeping' vista. The coloration is great too and the image certainly conveys your love of flight...10/10+

This works for me! Loved Peadros model, and have used it a couple of times but not as well as this! As with Neil, I love the letterbox view.. Rob

Awesome scene.

A fantastic scramble scene, wingman and all! Yeah, I agree, it often takes so long to create scenes that its better to juggle with a few at once, otherwise I could vanish for long periods, busily posing and reposing the crew of a PT boat or something and then realise I hadn't actually been keeping tabs with what everyone else is doing...
