Description
We were caught in Typhoon Kitt on our WestPac cruise in 1966. Well they started out saying it was a typhoon, then they downgraded it to a tropical disturbance and finally they said it was just a storm. But it peeled the paint off of the mast, and blew in a hatch in the break water, killing a man standing behind it. We managed to limp back into Subic Bay in the Philippines with one bunker of fuel oil that had not been contaminated by sea water. If we had lost that bunker, we would be wallowing in the storm and likely sunk. For more information about the Ready Eddi go to this link: http://dd950.com/photo_album/1966_cruise_book/atsea.htm
