Description
Pasha and Marek returned from their travels around the countryside accompanied by a dinner guest, the Shaman they found in the clearing, still dressed in his forest costume. Marek invited him to accompany them home for a few days to go over some of his manuscripts and perhaps teach him some more of the ancient language. Marek directs Pasha to take Tolbec, the Shaman, back to his room and get him freshened up and dressed more appropriately for dinner.
As Pasha and Tolbec leave, Bill shows up having just had a light snack in the kitchen. Marek motions Bill over to him where they proceed to his library. Marek engages Bill in some light conversation with an occasional query about what he remembers of the accident. Much to his relief, Bill doesn't remember a thing until he regained consciousness with Pasha standing over him. Of the incident with the wolf, he remembers nothing other than that there was a grey blur in front of the car. Then everything went blank.
Their talk turns to learning more about each other and they visit animatedly until they are joined by Pasha and Tolbec. Tolbec is wearing some of Pasha's clothes, which are less distracting at the dinner table. Bill and Marek stand as Marek introduces Bill to Tolbec. As Tolbec shakes Bill's hand, a strange look passes over his face. He gives Bill a serious look but says nothing.
Bill wonders about this as Marek directs them to be seated. They resume their visiting while awaiting the call to the dinner table. Tolbec also entertains them with some of the lighter magic he has been able to learn from studying his grandfather's manuscripts.
Every once in awhile, he glances at Bill with that same strange look, but still says nothing. Bill is starting to get worried. Finally, Toltec asks Bill, 'Do you have some kind of spell on you? I can see a reddish aura surrounding you!'
At this, Bill is startled almost out of his chair. Bill immediately thinks about the medallion and his strange dream. Could it be true. How does this guy know, he wonders?
Marek is startled as well. They haven't told Bill why the Shaman is there. Marek coughs as he tries to gloss things over and not let too much information slip out. The conversation quickly changes to other topics until at last, the dinner bell is rung and they all proceed into the dining room.
