They'd met long ago when some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend and legend became myth.... There was always a special day Beren kept, each and every year that passed. This year was a special one. To mark it, he took Ursala back to their old homeland, which in reality lay somewhere between 'here' and 'there'. They went to visit the graves of Angus mac Dermit and Moira nic Magnus. Indeed all of them were buried there - some longer than others. Moira had been like the daughter Ursala never had, but she gave up her curse of vampirism to become fae again, and die in fae time with her beloved Angus, who was half fae and half wolfkin/human. Her brother Gwidion - a great mage - made that possible. It was an offer extended to Beren and Ursala as well. They did not take it. They'd already been together four hundred years and couldn't imagine any other life...could not imagine life or death without one another. "Do ye remember what I said to ye when ye made me your king, my lady?" Beren asked as they crested the hill that led to the lands of men where Angus was born and raised. The moon shone down upon them, playing hide and seek amongst the scattering clouds, and he stopped to kiss her. "I do. You said that you would love me for a thousand years and beyond," Ursala smiled. "I laughed when you said it, hardly believing it would be...and now it has come to pass, my king." "So it has, and you know something Ursie?" he pulled her close as they came to the top of the hill. "I still love ya much as I did then an' count maself lucky ya love me in return. How many can say 'I've loved ye fer a thousand years?' Can't think o' anyone," he laughed. Suddenly, he noticed the feeling in the air. A feeling of something different - out of the ordinary. Sharp-eyed as ever, he turned Ursala's head to look down into the valley where Angus was raised amongst men, a changeling child. She had to look hard, for a great forest had grown up, clear down to the old marshlands...but there it was, hidden amongst the trees - a rather large estate with a great-house and several smaller houses and buildings. It looked to be a whole village unto itself, tucked away in the vale out of sight. "Well! It appears someone's taken over Angus' old village and turned it inta sumthin' rather remarkable.
